Title: Major Records question
Post by: apmnut on March 29, 2024, 12:24:59 AM
Lately, I've been on a Major/Valentino kick (definitely one of my favorite US libraries, just a wonderfully varied catalog), and there's been something I've been wondering in the back of my head. I know many of the tracks showcased on the label were written by a few composers who mostly contributed to the libraries in their native Great Britain (Anthony Mawer, Cyril Watters, and Johnny Hawksworth come to mind). Does anyone know if any of these were originally licensed from some other library prior to Valentino getting ahold of them? I'd personally like to think the composers themselves were shopping them around to various labels before Major bit.

The only case of licensing tracks for the Major/Valentino label that comes to my head are the tracks composed by the Italian composer Piero Umiliani, that originally came from his label Omicron.
