Dusty Fingers is the name of a series of compilation records of songs that are widely admired as breakbeats collected by Bronx DJ Danny Dann the Beat Mann.[2] Some of the songs featured contain "open breaks" which are solo drum passages which enable DJs to easily transition into them. These are also attractive to producers, who loop or rearrange them to create new compositions. Following in the tradition of the Ultimate Breaks and Beats series, the Dusty Fingers records contain an eclectic range of musical styles: mainly funk and jazz, but also including soul, rock, disco, and pop.

Many of the songs in the Dusty Fingers series have been sampled into new musical compositions, mainly by hip hop producers. Popular songs that sample songs from the Dusty Fingers series include "Guilty Conscience" by Eminem, "Find Your Wealth" by Nas, "Rowdy Rowdy" by 50 Cent, "Show Me What You Got" by Jay-Z, "Daydreamin'" by Lupe Fiasco, and "Dr. Carter" by Lil' Wayne."\

I can't verify that every thing here is in true lossless. That's just how they came from the guy who compiled all the tracks. These comps are known to have false or wrong artist/track info too. I used http://www.the-breaks.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=38341&hilit=dusty+fingers&start=220 to correct as many as I could.

Okay, so I might have a brain lag right now and I feel awkward to ask this, but what is this exactly?
I just randomly clicked into some folders and suddenly Brian Bennett came up. Using the search tool at the top brought like 20 results of random Bennett tracks (I like both Bennetts' sounds )

Is this basically a compilation of tracks that have been used / were "great" for remixing, sampling and generally "older"? And as been specified, are these track titles accurate (you know, tagging purposes!) so I can just browse and if I fish something, I can use Discogs for the information? I know tomorrow I will probably shake my head about this post, but I just can't put my head arround this. It seems to be an incredible treasure chest of exploration of not quite "Library", but more "Rare Grooves" music.

The Dusty Fingers series is a series of compilations of sampleable tracks- before this there was the legendary Ultimate Breaks & Beats.   DF has featured quite a lot of library and back when these first started coming out the internet was new and certainly streaming wasn't available so this was the first time many people heard library music.
I think a decent number of tracks are renamed- often with a clue or hint to the original track so with a bit of digging you could work it out.  I'm interested in having all the library stuff listed.
