You won’t sound condescending 🙂 Thanks.
So the names given to the tapes- are they on official lists or a names given by fans? Does anyone have scans of lists?

Here’s a set of cue sheets for BBC Test Cards which Tony shared a while back: pixeldrain.com/u/NkmSi5iP

The title of each tape is usually taken from the title of the first track.

The names given to tapes are after the initial track name.  The tapes usually comprise of a compilation from different LPs, some from the same library and some from a variety of libraries, all lasting for either half an hour or approximately 1 hour in length.  Later into the 90's and beyond they would often just use tracks from the same album but in a different order.  Some of the Funtastik derived ones are examples of this.  Unfortunately, some tracks were given alternative names as well as the artists by the music agency responsible for supplying these tapes, (for whatever reason), meaning that the records of the recordings are erroneous to say the least.  Getting hold of the original recordings and then matching them up to the trade test tapes helps to identify their true names and artists.  The problem is getting hold of the original recordings, as without them, it's impossible to identify them, unless the information is made available elsewhere.

The lists of tracks on tapes were painstaking put together by the Test Card Circle and made available to their members.  Presumably, so they could put their own versions of tapes together for themselves, as well as help out other members who would share tapes.

Also worth noting Retro, is depending on what version of the files have been sent, they may need the .doc extension added to make them readable in MS Word.  From memory, this list also provides what ITA, ITV and Channel 4 played as part of their test card music.

Well if nothing else this topic has flushed out all the Test Card fans. Though strangely not the aptly named member @testcard!  ;)

Thanks, once again, for providing these titles for us all, Retronic!  Outstanding, as usual.

They really knew how to pick 'em when selecting tunes for the test card, back in the day.  They've certain stood the test of time.   8]

ME LP 005 completes both High Stepper and Nostalgia tapes in lossless.  With contributions to Highland Holiday.

ME LP 009 completes the aforementioned Highland Holiday, with contributions to Nature Trail and Magic Potion.

Are there any tracks with unknown source, ie, just a track band, no composer or LP named?
