Capitol Transcriptions twofer
« on: November 13, 2023, 05:29:54 AM »
Earlier tonight, whilst going through "mood music" 78s on the Internet Archive's wonderful 78 RPM collections, I stumbled upon a couple of rarities from the Capitol library. Both of these albums are the only examples of the "Q"-coded albums on Capitol's radio transcription service I've seen ripped to date, the precursor to their famous Hi-"Q" library, and comprised entirely of cues licensed from another Hollywood-area library, Mutel (short for "Music for Television"), best known among library and film/TV score nerds for being used to score the first few seasons of the old George Reeves "Adventures of Superman" series.

Unfortunately, the original names for these tracks have been hacked off and replaced with generic "MOOD No. XXX" names, and the composers aren't labeled, either. In spite of this, there's some neat music on these two albums - I'm especially fond of the big band tracks on Q-217/218. Enjoy!
