Title: PIL 9001 - 9016......
Post by: Retronic on January 29, 2019, 07:58:06 PM
I love Peer International.
Here's a fresh FLAC of 9004 -Soul of a City.
The title track weirdly turned up in a latter episode of Glee, playing in a cafe.

The record has some pops and clicks and the odd jump but overall a good listen  :)

I’m glad, RM. I couldn’t remember how decent the shared copies have been. It’s a bit noisy here and there but yes, I like it too.

 :) 8] :-*

Soul Of A City, is one of my all-time favorite tracks. I've always found the track to be elegant and beautiful.

Thanks to your contribution, I can finally retire my old version I got from the late, great Valverdemusic.blogspot

Surprisingly, the Valverde rip is a true 320. Will wonders never cease?!?

I've come across FLAC compilations before featuring this track, but yours is the first FLAC rip I've encountered of the actual PIL release.

Thanks very much, Retronic.

Retronic, your PILL-ish post reminds of a ransom letter of sorts. But where's today's newspaper?

You've got a clock to authenticate date and time (but that could be a ruse) and...
"If somebody doesn't come up with the loot sometime soon, Fruit family's going into the Blender, to the notes of Anthony Mawer's Orchestra!"

The horror! The HORROR..!  :-\ :'(

This is no time for half-measures. We've got to assume that the Fruit's are still alive!

Luckily, I've rescued your PILLS and given them safe haven. But victims are still out there.

Somebody, quick, Save The Fruit's, before it's too late!

Crickey!  Remember them?! I’ll do it pretty quick.  I’ve done 5, don’t have 6, skipped 7 and have ripped 8.  I can quickly do 10-12. I don’t have 9 (Big Hammer) or 13 (Mindbender) but both have been reissued and I believe available as FLACS. I’m missing the big hitters on LP but have the rest.

Sorry, I don't have a LOSSLESS copy of PIL 9006 and my lossy copy is corrupted. Even the scans are poor. A total loss, I'm afraid.

All the rest of your rips are either serious upgrades or my first introduction to the respective LP, like PIL 9010 for instance.

Thanks very much for your PIL pushing, Retronic  ;)

I also don't have a copy of PIL 9007. But slowly and surely, upgrades continue. It's just a question of patience.

I'm skipping some as this recent ripping period was down to me buying a 400gb Micro SD for my portable music player- double what I had before.  So I could suddenly record reams of records that would never fit on before and I'm slowly filling it up.  I want to record the better records first and will probably also skip 9022 - Blue Grass Breakdown and 9031 - Chicken Pickin'.

Defintely more to come.....

No lossless, I'm sorry, but a better 320 rip still available at Starving Daughters
http://starvingdaughtersvinylimpressions.blogspot.com/2014/09/sven-libaek-my-thing-pil-9006-peer.html
(except that the "Misty Canyon" file you added has a better stereo spread )

Edit : Actually, both official issues of the album are in mono. I think your "Misty Canyon" stereo version must come from the "Music for Dancefloors  - Chappell Sessions" CD compilation.

Thanks for the update on your plans and methods Retronic. I'm very patient and never mind waiting, sometimes for years.

But since you brought it up, Micro SDs aren't something I've ever used, therefore I'm not familiar with the pros and cons.

Do you find using a Micro SD easier than hooking your portable player up to a larger capacity portable HD?

https://www.seagate.com/consumer/backup/

I'd love to hear the opinions from persons with practical experiences. I've only ever used the big HDDs and for me, they're lifesavers.

Also, if you'd rather answer on another thread, or pm, so as to not derail your sharing thread, I totally understand. I just had to ask. Could resist, y'unnerstand...

Thanks for your time and practical experience. And for your PILLs, btw. Muff likes his PILLs, doncha know  ;D

I still have Samsung external HD's (I've stopped buying Seagate as the last one stopped working and I lost a ton of rips).  I had stuff dotted around among several HD's and if I'm looking for something there's at least three I search through (which Is why I usually just ask eher-- it's quicker normally!).
I bought a new one and decided I'll, for the first time have it ordered by label so I can be methodical about what I've ripped.

The micro SD is in this Hi-res player which I use for listening to whan walking to work mainly.

This is the reason for the rips-- I'm using all my spare time working through these...
Just in life, I get disracted.  When I walk down the garden to get a trowel I see the birds need feeding and then next minute I'm cleariing uo the pug poo.  Same with this-- I'm on a mission with the Sonotons and then a Peer catches my eye or someone on here requests something and my attention shifts to that.  I actually like it that way.  That's the reason I'm skipping some-- if it doesn't look as listenable I'd rather rip something else and if there's room later on the SD card I can do it then.
Next in mind I have Standard but want to do Impress & Josef Weonberger as well, IF I don't have my head turned by those foxy shiny Intersounds..... :-*
Onwards and upwards....

Don't mean to clog your thread, Retro, but for what's worth, I use 2 duplicate backup HD drives (3TB each) and I also burn everything as archives to DVDs, just to be safe ;)
On top of that, I catalogue everything I have in a Word document for quick reference, organized by label and cat#

For listening, I just maintain a 128G iPod, rotating out labels whenever I feel a change

There's some very jealous and grudgy kiwis in our kitchen right now but as I said to them yesterday "You need to earn it; you don't just get to be front and centre... those bananas worked hard to get where they are and are very experienced (if a little green).
Fame costs and right here is where you start paying".

Yes, uou should have, but that's ok because it's not too late. I've instructed my attorney to ease up on any future copyright restrictions and the imposition of royalties where you're concerned  ;)

So you go ahead and use any Muff Originals as you see fit.

Because Great Minds DO think alike!  Except on Tuesdays, from 9-5, during the third week each month, but not if there's a full moon.  ::)

Thanks again for more PILLS  :o

I thought those Green 'Nanners were some kind of subliminal messaging directed to person or persons unknown.

You mean, those bananas were just being themselves? Who knew??

I guess sometimes a banana is just a banana. What a concept!

As an extra, this is the A-Side only of PIL 9041 - Contempo.  When I ripped these it was to put on my full to bursting portable FLAC player so I didn't bother recording the B-Side.  Completists might want to give it a miss until I get around to doing the other side.

Good to see you roope.  I’ll add them but by bit. Got a big pile of stuff to rip and the last bunch are still in there.
