[Fly Record] AS 62, AS 63 and AS 64 - Fra Mito & Storia
« on: March 27, 2023, 01:00:08 AM »

Hello everyone,
"Fra Mito & Storia" is a rather ambitious project by Giacomo Dell'Orso, divided into three parts.
It recalls myths and history of the ancient Mediterranean civilizations.

Compositions mainly for harp, recorder, lyre, arghilofono and laminofono, the latter a weird instrument conceived by the same Dell'Orso.
Very good percussions by Franco Giordano and Franco Turchi, also noteworthy is the presence of Cicci Santucci on trumpet and flugelhorn.

Definitely three atypical library records. In addition there are some vocal parts.
Male vocals are rendered with a certain emphasis, while female vocals are really enchanting.

Enjoy!

Percussion: Franco Giordano, Franco Turchi
Harp: Alessandra Bianchi
Recorder: Renzo Andreini
Arghilofono: Italo Cammarota
Trumpet and Flugelhorn: Cicci Santucci
Lyre, Organ and Laminofono: Giacomo Dell'Orso
Vocals: Corinna, Edda, Giacomo, Renzo

Rocco, what to say apart "How the hell is large your collection??" LOL.

No, seriously, these three are all new to me too.

And it's been a great way to start the week. A full immersion in the ancient age and in the myth.
Listening to these atypical records while reading the extensive notes on the rear covers was great for a lover of ancient Greek history, its myths and Homer like I am.

Amazing to read what the origin of the track "Andromaca and Astianatte" was.

A thousand thanks for sharing these Rocco.
Much appreciated.
G.

starting this up for the evening.

wow, rocco, this is mind-blowing work here.

to begin with ancient Egypt, I see why dell'orso released 3 records; the Old Testament doesn't make the cut until the b-side!!

'David and Goliath'!!

thank you again, rocco!!

hahaha!!

well I spoke too soon, rocco!!

I see we have Sumerian gods & the Gilgamesh epic starting off side a of AS 63; so, yes, ambitious project to say the least!!

'Ikkibu'!!

the restraint on 'Il minotauro' is genius!! intense!!

'icaro' works as mainstream 60s jazz; with the harp!! wow!!

'Il Lamento Di Crise' I agree, rocco, some of the best male voicework ever. I recall an ost by Vittorio gelmetti with great prehistoric voicework. a lost art.

'olimpia'!!!!!! haha, dell'orso sneaking that smooth track in!! double wow!!

'Fidippide' over 'chariots of fire' any day!! suck it, vangelis!!

beautiful 'La Valle Dei Templi.'

'Il Saturnio'. male voices, indeed. eat your heart out, Ella!!

'La Via Appia.' another great mix of electronic and classic.

caesar's hometown 'suburra' right into 'catacombe' for the finish??!! a tad depressing, maestro dell'orso!!

again, thank you so much for sharing, rocco!! what a night!!

:)
