Drama - Different Tracks
« on: December 18, 2022, 06:28:53 AM »
The "Drama" track from KPM 1292 and KPM 82 CD which is 2 min. 8 sec long was said to be composed by George F. Linstead and sourced from FDH 140. On the KPM 82 CD, it is credited under Van Phillips.

When FDH 140 got digitized, the Drama track is completely different.

The KPM CD's version was a Conroy track that's re-issued. It's an example of two tracks from different libraries with the same name, but with different melodies and composers. By the way, about FDH 140 on APM, "Dramatic Lyric" by Lloyd Webber on the digitized album doesn't show the original track, but instead, it has "Bumper Cars" by Terence Roper (originally from FDH 138), meaning the original version of Dramatic Lyric is missing.

On what Conroy record/album does it have the Drama track?

Unfortunately, we don't have any info on the original Conroy 78 for this track.

I know it's already too late to comment on this, but honestly, I don't think the KPM CD version of Drama is from Conroy. I believe it's from a missing 1955-1956 From the sounds of things, it sounds way too similar to FDH songs at the time like "Stormy Passage", "For Those In Peril", "Romantic Prelude", "Flare-Up", or "Police Car Chase" to ever be a Conroy track. My guess that it's either in FDH 150, or that it's Dramatic Lyric.

I've always thought it was FDH. It sounds too old for Conroy...
