ITN Vote '87
« on: October 11, 2019, 12:51:55 PM »
Hello,
I am new to the forum - I contacted Retro Teque's blog who kindly pointed me in the direction of this website. I am hoping you might be able to help me.
I've been generally interested in library music for many years, but my specific interest is in relation to library music as used by ITN for its television news broadcasts. ITN has used lots of library music over the years - some of them well-known like The Awakening - and others that are more obscure.
I am trying to identify the music that was used for the end credits of the Vote '87 election programme, as heard here:
(starts about 0:36)
I am pretty certain it must be a library track of some kind - ITN often used them for one-off specials like election or budget programmes.
Does anyone have any clue as to what it might be? I would be so grateful for your help as I've been trying to track this music down for many years.
Thanks
Robert

Unfortunately I don't recognise it. It reminds me a little like "Born To Run" by Paul Westwood from Rouge Music but I am not sure.

Thank you SO much!! I am completely blown away! I have literally been searching for that for years. I am absolutely delighted!

As you're all so incredibly good at this .... any ideas about this one? Used for ITN's Budget 85 programme: http://www.mediafire.com/file/e44kfygyllodleg/ITN_BUDGET_85.mp3/file
If you can find that one as well that would be the icing on the cake!

I've just remembered that I found out a while back that ITN's Election 83 theme was "Megapower" by Brian Bennett. I've been so far unable to find a copy of this, does anyone have it lurking about somewhere by any chance?

In case anyone is interested, and to feel like I'm paying something back for your generosity, here are some other library track titles I know ITN have used over the years (less obvious than Non Stop and The Awakening):

Arena by Alan Hawkshaw - Space Shuttle coverage in the late 80s
Classic Energy - Election 97
Energised by Warren Bennett - Budget 94
Energy Barrier by Warren Bennett - Vote 88 (US election)
Great Days by Alan Hawkshaw - News at One 1989
Jubilate by Andrew Jackman - Royal Wedding 1999
News Gathering by Alan Hawkshaw - Early Evening News 1992
Particles in Space by Phil Nicholas - Budget 91/92/93
Soft Science by Dave Hewson - Election 92
Victory Celebrations by Simon Chamberlain - Golden Jubilee 2002

I have copies of these so if anyone's interested, do let me know.

I have Megapower. It’s on a Brution BRN.  Out of the house but can post later.

Here's what I have- all 320 bitrate I think.  Haven't ripped the LP to FLAC yet.

Budget 85 is really familiar, and I'm fairly sure I've got it, but I can't place it.....argh!

I'm sure ITN used one of the variants of Steve Gray's 'Spring To Life' for its budget coverage in the 80s, possibly 1986?
