No more iTunes?
« on: June 01, 2019, 12:32:25 AM »

I thought some of you, or perhaps all of you, would be interested in this news.

When I first began to notice Library and other online music, iTunes was the total package for me in terms of tagging, burning discs, listening, etc. It was one-stop shopping.

After years of listening to sermons by the Reverend Porn Library, I finally became a "Born Again" convert to LOSSLESS music. With LOSSLESS codecs, I soon realized the limitations of using iTunes exclusively. After foraging online for several weeks, I settled on XLD and Audacity as my primary tools for tagging, editing, burning, etc.

Since 2015, XLD has been the main program I use to tag, cue and burn CDs. So far, with one exception, XLD has been flawless  :)

Still, iTunes comes in so handy in listening to music on the iMac and portable devices on the fly. Besides, I've got years worth of fond Library memories during my formative years, and iTunes was a big part of this  :'(

I hope whatever Apple has planned, it works well. And NO additional fees!

I think Apple is just splitting iTunes into 3 separate apps -- Music, TV/Movies, and Podcasts. I expect the "new" Music app will be similar to the music function of iTunes... at least I hope so.

For decades I've relied on iTunes as an active archive library, which I've painstakingly organized into hundreds of different categories ("playlists"), e.g. labels, dates, genres, themes, etc. etc. I'd hate to lose this... :(
