Guys, just try this. Believe me.
This record has many beautiful tracks, but one is absolutely remarkable. "Flute & Riff" is such a great piece of music, it has literally electrocuted me.
And what about "Blue Melody", "Hustle Me, Hustle You" or "It's A Beautiful Day"?

This is what is written on the back cover:
"A production of international high-class in "half-speed" system. More dynamic, more audible quality of reproduction. Big and gentle melodies. Big band and large orchestra. With this colourful and powerful LP, the composer and arranger Horst Lubitz (John Lou) extracts everything from his whole register of talent. Up to date dancing music, action and crime themes, film and TV music."

ps
just wondering: what is that "half-speed" system?

You don't have to convince me, Greta. I dig Selected Sound from this light disco period  ;)

Thanks!

And "Flute & Riff" is brilliant :)

half-speed refers to the technical implementation of a process for mastering vinyl and it's effects on dynamic range as the vinyl is cut. The master tape is played back at half speed as it's being cut/recorded simultaneously to the speed of the master plate while cutting which is turned at precisely half the desired playback speed and this gives the head twice as much time to cut into the lacquer theoretically allowing for better accuracy regarding things like frequency and dynamic range etc. More or less.

Hell, I will have to read it a few times to get it!
Thank you for the explanation Mayzio.

A selected sound I actually never heard before! Downloading now. Only cut I know on this is "Hustle You, Hustle Me", which was used in many adult films in the day. Will be interesting to hear this whole album and if any familiar never ID'd tunes turn up. Thanks much for the post!

WOW! "Flute And Riff" just took me back to my young days! Major blast from my past! I indeed know that one very well...and was singing along in my head while hearing it LOL

It's a re-edit of a few small instrumental sections from the 1978 deep disco club hit "Love Fever" released under a group name of the same. So a library composer was behind that. Shows that library music has been all around us in one way or another all our lives. I even did my own re-edit of this years ago on reel to reel to play when I was DJ-ing. Here's the original on youtube....awful quality though.

If I can find my old LP copy sometime, i'll do a lossless rip and post in the non-library section.

     Nice to know!

Thanks for posting the rip, Greta. "Flute & Riff" is great. I like "Mistery Flight" too.
