Title: [Cenacolo] - now up to...complete!

Cenacolo, a great little Italian label for me, with many great releases from quite a wide range of composers such as Luciani, Alessandroni, Tommasi, Marinuzzi, Gelmetti, Fabor, Cafaro, Camponeschi to name a few. And even one great "flutey" release by Vandroogenbroek.

A bit underrated label in my opinion, so I thought it was time to give it a proper showcase, posting the entire catalog in lossless format (although the quality varies, I think they're all legit lossless).

For a few weeks I'll be posting these records rips, collected over the years. Some are digital releases and some are from the forum itself.
(sorry if I don't remember who was the original poster/ripper for some of these, I always had the bad habit not to trackdown the sources. I only know a couple are from a8detective).

The M 700 series only, in this post. Released between 1969 and 1981 circa.

I am less familiar with Cenacolo but inadvertently downloaded Il Mondo del Giovani Vol 1. What a great album. As is volume 2. So I'm now downloading the rest. Thank you so much for sharing these gems Greta. So to hell with it. Call me a stamp collector if you want. I don't care. All I know is I am enjoying some great music from the 70s and in superb quality.

Thank you for letting us know! His artwork is fantastic. I can't find this exact painting, but there are quite a few that are similar. I wish I could find a book of his work to buy. He doesn't even have a Wikipedia page yet! Google turns up some lovely images. I'm using "Bragozzi al largo" as my desktop picture right now.

Experimental, concrete music.

"Un Volto Per Adamo" is all about flute, drum and "white sounds".
"Arpe Nel Sole"...well.. it's understood.

I think they're both from the very first 70's.

This one below was the most elusive one in the cenacolo catalog, but at the end I found it as a digital reissue.
A great record to me, and well described by this comment I found in the www:

As often happens in the case of library music albums, even in Leonardo Marletta's one and only record in his career, the titles serve above all as sound indications, as if they were listening guides. In Percussioni ed effetti (Percussion and Effects) we find a vast array of atmospheres, well explained and illustrated by titles such as Violenza (Violence), Guerriglia (Guerrilla Warfare), Allucinazioni (Hallucinations), Compulsioni (Compulsions), Battimenti (Beats), Sospensioni (Suspensions) or Apocalisse (Apocalypse). All these nouns perfectly fit the mood of the record, which is entirely built on a painstaking work of acoustic and electronic percussions, deep reverbs, drums, cymbals, and hints of piano and organ scattered here and there. Contrary to what one might think, the final result is anything but scant or primitive and shows a spasmodic rhythmic and instrumental research, similar to those we can find in some avant-garde jazz works. As Valerio Mattioli remarks in his book Superonda, quoting Marletta's Percussioni ed effetti, "the moment when library music becomes more interesting is when it abandons any descriptive intent and decides to talk about nothing but itself: a sort of metamusic or 'music in music', an imaginary soundtrack for nothing."

"Percussioni ed Effetti" is a great album indeed. I also really like the gloomy atmospheres of "Chitarra l'Anno Dopo".

Especially for Alessandroni's L'ora del cocktail. That was one of the first Library albums I ever listened to and I am happy to have a high quality copy. Also, Ferroni's Humour per grandi e piccini and the two Baby Show LPs have been on my want-list for a long time. Lovely job on this topic, Greta!
