Happy new year everyone

Here is a whopping 45 new Sound Ideas since my last shares earlier this year. That brings the total to 64 CDs and one bonus.

Sound Ideas is truly a mixed bag of surprising musical treasures that could appeal to all different tastes...everything from country, easy listening, to cheesy techno and production elements. Really good stuff!

Thank you so much for sharing Retromatic!

Sound Ideas is my favorite library music, bar none!

In my country, the most used library music is Sound Ideas

But in my country, we use it for a series

The Mix Broadcast Music Library

I have purchased all of The Mix Broadcast Music Library digital music officially from Sound Ideas.

In fact, they often have a 50% discount during the holidays. So at half price it would cost about $3000 for all of them

As for the SI series you shared, it is out of print and no longer officially available. You can only get them by buying the CD

So this is a rare treat

Thanks!

My friend thank you very much for making available to us these wonders of Sound Ideas, mainly I was happy to hear the album World Champion since it has some tracks from the first of the series The Mix Broadcast, of course it does not have 100% all variations as the CD3 of The Mix that comes all complete, but I am already very happy to have heard the Alt. Mix of the soundtracks coming on this album, really have a lot of gratitude for you, I hope you post more contents of Sound Ideas, especially of the line The Mix Broadcast, this is that I'm more in waiting patiently and eager to download on your site, but while you do not publish, I'll have fun listening to the other albums of the same record label that you kindly made available to us, but God give you double everything you do for this great community and thank you for everything you've done so far,   I will be waiting for new posts from both Sound Ideas and other record companies that have in their collection.

Appreciate you taking the time to archive and share these rarities! They're particularly of interest to me as around a dozen Sound Ideas tracks were used as Nokia ringtones, and I'm trying to collect the best quality versions of ringtones.

Hello, Retromatic! Thanks for these music tracks! I always wanted to listen to it. I wanted to download it, but when i clicked it, it says "ERR_CONNECTION_RESET". What should i do? Is it having a internet problem? Or is it just me having a internet problem? Or was it no longer available? Please tell me. Thank you!

ah friend, I couldn't, I don't know how to decrypt, I tried to search here how to do it, but I didn't find anything related that could help me, and I also don't understand URL decryption, not even to be something simple to understand

You literally just have to look up the real letter from their counterpart in the next line.
MrDonut even used a monospace font so you can literally move your mouse cursor/finger on the "fake" over to the "real" alphabet.

YJDXLWUOASRFTKGNEICBHMZVPQyjdxlwuoasrftkgneicbhmzvpq5709184236
ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZabcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz0123456789

Fake alphabet ("encrypted") = D and 2
Actual alphabet ("decrypted") = C and 7

Or in the case of his address: obbnc://pixeldrain.com/u/UqyPifD1

What is OBBNC?

YJDXLWUOASRFTKGNEICBHMZVPQyjdxlwuoasrftkgneicbhmzvpq5709184236

To be fair, some websites and share forums use code64 and similiar things to de- and encrypt things, and that is what I thought for a moment too until I figured out the adress to be "P...I...X....E..." and then I knew what I had to do. But then, I watch Russian movies and when I see a name like "Alexandr" in cyrillic, you start to get a sense of "replace letter X with Y".

I'm a bit out of the loop here. Why do so many obfuscate the URLs?

I can't speak to the more recent trend for more elaborate obfuscation, but the much longer tradition of simpler obfuscation such as changing https to hXXps is to avoid people arriving at the files from a clickable link from here, which could be traced back to here and attract unwanted attention.

To be fair, and I don't want to cut into that topic too deep, but I think if we want all that, we should support him financially better. The investments - money and time - are massive and even with some donations here and there, it's still just dripple feeding. I am also sure he sees the amount of accesses and gets almost nothing back in return, the incentive is very low.

I see that the vast majority of the users here do it for free and all, but people are different. The appreciation needed to keep going varies individually. I am also a person that wants a certain amount of appreciation - more than a soul-less one-liner in a forum for example - if you want me to keep going in a steady way.

In general, I wish I could help more with the exotic stuff, but since I collect only on a track-basis, buying a whole disk for 100€ is out of any relation. And collectors needing a whole library of these, shelling out $1000+ and ripping, tagging them just to people silently grab it and me donating a tenner here and there is far from awesome.

The lost CDs are available for purchase at

One album for $40, two albums for $30, four albums for $96

I purchased 8 albums from this site, all of which were lost by Retromatic, and I gave them to him via private message. This is my way of giving back to him, and I think you can do the same.

Also, sorry for begging, but i need some albums that are missing, and some tracks that are discontinued. For example, this is a Sound Ideas' Music Catalog from 1988-1991. Here is the link for this catalog:

Indeed, I have not contributed with donations. I don't have money for it. But I have a well-known channel for 10 years, with 9,960 subscribers, and I dedicate myself to sharing themes used in soap operas and other programs. I don't know if I can help Retromatic with diffusion, but if so, I could even make incidental restorations or divertimenti with scenes where the music he gets was not used (I call 'incidental divertimenti' to remusicalize something with themes that were not originally used in a scene). I can't donate, but everything on my blog, YouTube channel and Facebook group is shared for free because, in most cases, that's how it was obtained. Just last night I made this video where I mention and thank Retromatic and this great forum.

In my opinion, $40 for one album at this time is expensive.

Don't get it wrong, previously, I like to spend some of my money to buy some royalty-free tracks, including Sound Ideas, in digital download only. But since 2020 until now, $40 can help me and my family to pay the bills and have a great meal at home instead of going to the restaurant or having a take-out, not even thinking of any royalty-free music on my wishlist.

I didn't mean to stir up a discussion about "No donations - bad leecher" sort of things. I thought it might sound like so, and sadly it kinda hit into that direction. But let me give me my personal picture of it:

Retromatic is probably, besides ChunYinZi and Craig-UK (and one or two more) the one who publishes CDs or general 1990+ material. He is a very minority. I don't know how that sounds, probably a bit cheesy, but there is not much resonance "around here" for that material. Whilst record shares has a small tornado of users like Sub, Retronic, Greta, stackjackson, Fuzi, and all working together to fill gaps, share release dates, research about composers and all that "good mood" these threads ooze, Retromatic is (or was) very much alone here. When I looked up the missing release dates, I enjoyed he was glad about that and responded. I am not a psychologist, but I think for users like him, the incentive to be here and share is very low. Even when I discovered LMT, I first thought it's a record sharing website for jazz and retro kitsch. I kid you not. The whole looks of the forum banner and all. And the lack of interest in digital/CD releases in general (which I personally also faced when I firstly joined) which kind of alienate Retromatic and his gigantic collection of gems even more around here. The few responses can be summed up as: "We don't really care about CDs".

If we could start the same good vibes around this like "over there in the vinyl record section" and up the appreciation more, there might be more going on. As said many times before, I would contribute financially for someone else purchasing rare gems, but I don't want to do that alone and since I collect only maybe one or two tracks out of a disc, my contribuations would be small. The CD/>1990 sharing section has just no real "drive" going on.

I want to put emphasis that I do not want to divide the users here of any kind. We all have different interests and likes, and that is good. If you can't find the same sound, vibes et cetera on CD or digital releases, why should you bother? I do get that. Just like I leave out any release before 1975. I just want to speak out loud what is going on here very evidently - a hard cut between the record era and CD era. I like both sides of the fence as I collect music over 3 decades. Actually, we at LMT also completely leave out 2005 and later. So even there is some cut going on.

I hope I do not regret pouring out my soul here by hit "SUBMIT", but I gotta do voice that feeling I have.

You can contact to that Youtube channel's email. Maybe he have them.

Sometimes what I need is just full length, and maybe underscore or alternative version of that track.

Never regret expressing what you feel: I think it's good. It would also be interesting to hear Retromatic. I'd like to contribute money - there's a lot of music I've been wanting for years on both old and new records. I've even learned to enjoy library music itself: I've been able to gather 357,409 tracks from all sorts of libraries, many of them downloaded from here or from members here sharing on Soulseek. I play those songs randomly and listen to a cocktail of styles that takes me out of depression and makes me happy. Years ago, when I had the money to at least try, I wanted to buy Valentino's Evergreen series, I asked how much they sold it for, when the page was deleted: I never received an answer. Today I just can't pay for this type of music or donate, but I could do other things. My way of contributing, as I said before, could be another, but I don't know if this diffusion is of interest. Here, for example, I remusicalized a scene with themes from Sound Ideas obtained thanks to Retromatic. That music is not used in the original scene. Actually, from the experience I have in incidental music (library or not), it is a very minority world.

My problem is that I am collecting digitally. Buying a random disk and put it lonely on a shelf is just useless.
But adding a tenner or so into a big pot so the actual collector can buy the disk (and keep the copy) would be optimal.

And yes, I'd also like to know what Retromatic would say about that, but I am also sure that all this fuzz is not his cup of tea and he might actually be pretty annoyed by it.
I really don't know.  :-\

Sorry if I post it wrong place.

A few months ago I discovered that another site used to have Sound Ideas tracks (is Audioblocks), including tracks from these CDs, but it was removed. So I looked up Web Archive and find out this site archive some search tag and music pages from Audioblocks (most from 2014 - 2015, although these tracks is still available on that site until around 2019 or something). I tried to get the preview links from those, and it turns out that those preview links still alive.

Until now I have downloaded 280+ tracks from these, although it's just for audition (and the audio quality is 96kbps). Now I decided to share these tracks. Most of them is in full length and alternative length version.

NOTE: I have renamed these files.

Do you plan to download all the rest of them?

Or do you have all the SOUND IDEAS on the site?

I'm interested in that. In fact, some of the albums have been taken down.

Maybe you can get them back through Audioblocks

I'm still searching that, but it will need a lot of time and luck.

I'm currently contacting someone who have those Sound Ideas tracks, but I'm having some hesitant, because it was 128kbps.

Like I said, all Sound Ideas tracks were removed from Audioblocks (now Storyblocks Audio). Just preview links still alive.

Personally I'm just here to find more deep cuts and don't have hard cutoff years for my interest/enjoyment. I admittedly have a lean towards late 90s/early 2000s library music, but I've also found gems from the 2010s as well, and do want to dig more into vintage library music when I get the chance. I understand why there's low interest for 2nd half of 2000s onwards, or even 90s onwards, although I'm sure there's lots of great tunes from the digital age. I suppose it's that pre-90s library music has more of a distinctive feel to it?

Either way, I would love to do more CD library music preservation. I like finding rare gems and sharing them around with others!

To me, the "good sounding" music stopped at the new Millenium. I don't mean only compositions and styles, but also the way they are mastered. Loudness Wars is just a big part of it, but also music shifted vastly away from what I enjoy. For example the "Exotic years" when 5 years long, many people tried to copy KYGO with sparse carribean soundscapes and high-reverb (and thus spacious) percussion. Or the wobble bass years (Dubsteb). For example, if you look at 2000s "rock" music, it will be like Nickleback clones or "Retro 80s" albums. Why not going actual retro? The same with all these new "Synthwave" producers mimicking what I have pently of directly from e.g. CAVENDISH MUSIC's "To Every Action..." from 1988.

If I look for "Technlogy" in the music libraries and I see a CD/LP cover with a close-up of a Z80 and I hear slap bass, synthpads and in general a well-made mix that you can actively listen to compared to a 2015's produced "Technology" album that is hot-mastered and its wave form preview looks like a sausage - two ends and a big block in the middle - full of gritty, almost-industrial sounds, I know I don't need to look further. Again, the worst thing is to argue about taste in general, might it be music, sports teams or favourite ice cream flavour. But man, if I could make a chart of the release years of "my music" it'd drop massively from 1995 onwards even though my latest track is from 2005 - because it sounds genuinely good and interesting.

Hi Psyclon.

I also like very much synthwave, but feel that new releases (read: from about 25 years ago to today) are poorly recorded/mixed/mastered.

Do you mind sharing "Cavendish To Every Action..." here on this forum?

I don't post very much here, in fact after the last crash this is my first post, but I read your posts and we have some thinking in common, except that I collect by whole albums :)

Thanks in advance.
