Title: Frode Thingnęs' Quintet - Night Sounds
Post by: tuneboy on May 01, 2019, 05:22:38 PM
Frode Thingnęs' Quintet was a great Norwegian fusion combo in the late 70s and early 80s. Here is their first outing from 1978, ripped on my brand new Technics SL-1200GR turntable with Ortofon 2M Bronze cartridge/stylus.

The tune 'Samba Loco' has been used as a radio jingle and this album was also released in the UK in the BBC Radioplay Music series. Thingnęs is also credited as composer on two tunes on Boosey & Hawkes SBH 3066. He was a great trombonist, "the Norwegian Peter Herbolzheimer", though not as prolific. He died in 2012.
