I am working on a comprehensive guide to the music used by Monty Python:

This project began a few years ago, after purchasing the Network Blu-ray set of Flying Circus, wherein most of the show's music cues are listed in the viewing notes. I have just finished revising Series 1. All of the films, albums, and specials will also be posted eventually.

There are a couple of errors in the viewing notes, most notably the sting used in The Spanish Inquisition sketch, which is incorrectly listed as a Chappell piece, but that's probably down to errors by the BBC, not the infallible Andrew Pixley

Yes, the piece it lists for the Spanish Inquisition ('Openings and Endings No. 2' by Robert Farnon) was actually used in the 'Gunfight at O.K. Corral in Morse Code' scene.

I unexpectedly happened upon the fanfare introducing 'The Kiss' animation in episode 2:

Additional info for you - the Timmy Williams Coffee Time credits music from S2 E19 is 'Junior Choice' by Jack Trombey from de Wolfe DWLP 3111 'Payola'

Peter Gunn from S2 E17 (The Bishop) is actually by Henry Mancini and his Orchestra, from 'The Mancini Sound', RCA Victor LPM 3943

Pearls For Swine S1 E13 is 'Happy Harp' by Jonny Teupen and his group, from a Mozart Edition LP which I have but don't have the details to hand right now

'Happy Harp' (ME.LP036) was listed by Pixley as "also cleared for use". If this is the Pearls For Swine theme, then 'Mother and Baby - Bossa Nova Beat' (Cinemusic CMR 316) is probably two separate tracks mistakenly listed as one. 'Mother and Baby' is a suitable title for the one unidentified cue; 'Bossa Nova Beat' is not. Though Shaindlin pieces are always difficult to confirm; most of them cannot be found online, and CMR 316 is not even on Discogs.

I've ordered CMR 201 from Discogs, so I will find out if it was indeed used in E19.

I've got a hunch that "fc19a" is one of Jack Shaindlin's cues, potentially on CMR 202 or 301.

I have no idea which episode it is on or whether it was one of the movies but I recall "Swing A Day" from DWLP 3116 being used on the Blackmail skit. It was one I just accidentally came across years back.

Fortunately most of them are listed in the IMDb soundtrack (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0066765/soundtrack/?ref_=tt_trv_snd), but there are some uncertainties:

- I can find no information about "On Time" by Peter Reno.

- Three tracks are attributed to Bruton Music: "Fanfare No. 1" by Christopher Gunning and two classical pieces arranged by Paul Lazare - Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto and Wagner's "Liebestod". Bruton wasn't founded until 1977, but they have reissued earlier tracks from Southern, which is apparently the origin of Gunning's "Fanfare" (https://www.discogs.com/release/3417366-The-Westway-Studio-Orchestra-Ceremony-Presentation-Industry-Action-Scenic). I haven't found information on Lazare's arrangements, but his name appears on at least one Southern release (www.discogs.com/release/15871389-Various-Atmospheric-Neutral-), and other classical arrangements are attributed to him on IMDb (www.imdb.com/title/tt0146246/soundtrack/ www.imdb.com/title/tt0069131/soundtrack/).
